Et voila!

Almost 2 years ago I stumbled upon a blog, saw a gorgeous quilt and decided I wanted to make one! So I started researching fabric and had my eyes opened to the beautiful fabric that is plentiful in the States but hard to find/not available and expensive in the UK. So I finally chose the fabric I most wanted (most wanted because there is sooooo much to want!), got it shipped and began work on my quilt. It has been a pretty painfully slow process as things are when you have small children and nowhere to leave your sewing machine out but I finally finished last night! The pictures don't show off just how nice the fabric is because my camera is not flashy but still, I love it! Once the top was sewn together I decided to hand quilt it together or else is would take who knows how long - the thought of having to get the sewing machine out and put it away numerous more times was disheartening whereas I could hand sew for a bit each night if I wanted. So I hand stitched round each white triangle, there are 144!

I didn't make it with anyone in particular in mind but both the big girls want one now. Esther was Alice to have this one but I think it's too big for a cot, definitely a toddler bed or single so maybe Eliza. Here she is snuggling up:

So cosy!
In our new house I'll have somewhere to leave the sewing machine set up for periods if I want to so hopefully my next one won't take nearly 2 years!

It's amazing!!! Way to go!

And if you need to make an in-person visit to the states to shop for fabric for the next quilt...I'll happily be your chauffeur!
