I took this picture from the estate agents website but here is a picture of a house like mine! Our's has a garage to the right of the house - I've never lived in a house with a garage before so it's a real luxury! Still plenty of unpacking and sorting out to do. We need more furniture yet but we are getting there. I bought some bunk beds for the girls the other day and now my mum is freaking out because she thinks Esther is too young to go on the top bunk- is 5 1/2 too young to go on the top bunk? Any thoughts?

The move 2
I wrote out this whole blog post last Sunday and somehow managed to lose it right before publishing it so I hope it doesn't happen again - so frustrating!
So the day after we move in Alice was sick - only once in the morning and it was just milk so we didn't think too much of it. Ben's parents came for a visit as it was nearly Eliza's birthday and brought with them our 3 year old nephew Thomas. The kids had a whale of a time running around. I didn't know but Ben and my dad had decided to start boarding out the loft so Ben's parents hardly saw any of Ben when they came, and I was torn between unpacking and entertaining. I guess I was a bit naive as to how hectic it would be the day after moving. Last time we moved we had no kids and therefore about 1/2 the stuff we have now!! So it was chaos. Thankfully my mother-in-law brought some curtains she had picked up so we could at least have something to go in the bedrooms (some our old curtains we tab top and didn't fit here and plus there are more rooms to fill!).
At some point during the day,I'm not sure if it was whilst my in-laws were here or after they had left but my dad comes down from the loft telling me he had just seen a SQUIRREL in there!!!! He then found chewed through wires and lots of mess from the squirrels. Not what you want to here. We decided to call the developer who sold the house to get them to do something about it but this was Saturday evening so we had to wait until Monday.
Sunday afternoon after church I started not feeling well, just cold and tired so I thought so went for a lie down. Turns out I had caught the sickness bug, then a few hours later mum had it, then dad, then Ben all within 10 hours of each other!! Luckily as I was first I had asked for a blessing and was better within 2-3 hours, dad was not too bad either but mum and Ben were terrible. The next morning we had a text from ben's dad saying he had it and Thomas too! Bex and my mother-in-law got it the day after. What a horrible bug. Small mercies were that I had it first and was able to be better the quickest and look after the children the next day, I usually fed Alice before bed but she went to sleep with a cup of milk for the first time instead fairly happily. My visiting teacher brought round dinner for the girls as I hadn't had chance to go shopping since we moved in and didn't want to go to the shops in case I was contagious. She thought of other little things we might be needing too - in Esther's words, 'it was marvellous!'
When we contacted the developer they got moving pretty quickly and within that next 5 days we had the pest control guy over who laid poison bait, an electrician to check the damaged wires and a the developer's lackey/builder to take out the loft insulation with the squirrel stuff in it. While dad was still here he sat a vigil by the dinning room window on the look out for squirrels and shot two! I think it made his weekend!
On the Tuesday after we moved in it was Eliza's birthday. I managed to find her presents and get them wrapped. Everyone was feeling better by then so I was going to take Esther and Eliza to see Tangled for her birthday treat but by the time we checked for the show times we had only 5 minutes to get to the cinema and I wasn't even dressed so I ended up taking them on the Saturday instead. Great film, loved it! Eliza got a Buzz Lightyear, a marble run, a Zhu Zhu hamster with 2 babies, a nice fleecy blanket and a fabulous church bag. I'm sure I have some pictures but don't know where the cable is for the camera at the moment. It took me a week to find a hairbrush! Eliza loved all her cards. She is so funny, if you try to tell her she is anything other than 'Eliza Conway' she doesn't like it. So if you ask her is she is a girl or a cutie pie or a monkey she says'no I'm just Eliza Conway!' So in her eyes all her cards were for 'Happy Birthday for Eliza Conway'.
Anyway, the weekend after moving in Ben had to organise the stake Gold and Green ball so as soon as we were back from the cinema he left to go to the stake centre to help with the set up and didn't get back till 1.30am then had to get up at 5.30am to go back to the stake centre(an hour away) for an early morning meeting. He was just exhausted. That, having been ill and being super busy at work just wiped him out. In amongst this we decided it was time Alice learnt to sleep through the night without being fed so we had a couple of bad nights but it quickly paid off into alot more undisturbed sleep for everyone - last night Alice slept her first 7pm-7am ever! Hoorah!
Anyway, back to the squirrels. The next week the electrician and builder came back to fix the chewed wires and the holes where the squirrels were getting in. The maintenance guy chopped down some of the branches of the big tree next to the house too (though the other day I saw a squirrel climb up the remains of some ivy on the side of the house so I'm not sure the absence of branches have deterred the squirrels at all. Dad finished boarding half the loft on Monday then on Friday the pest control guy came again and discovered that one whole tray of poison had been eaten but a new hole had been made on the other side of the house. Boo hoo! So he moved the poison to there and is coming back on Friday to reassess. He said he had just condemned the loft in the house opposite because the squirrels have trashed it and there is poop all over and even a dead mummified squirrel up there. Yuk. At least that house is still empty! Dad was just praying this morning when he looked up and out of the window he could see a squirrel in the garden so he ran for his gun and shot that too! Answers to prayers hey?!!
Yesterday we had planned a day of box unpacking and garage/shed sorting but decided we needed a well earned family day out so had an inpromptu day out to Ely and actually still had the time to fit in 2/3 of the jobs we had planned so all in all we are getting there! Still need some furniture- bunk beds, wardrobes, drawers, bookcases, toy storage, curtains etc but things are getting there slowly! I'm so thankful to all the many people who have helped us either actually moving, bringing us food or looking after children so I could unpack. Our neighbours seem nice and we are looking forward to making this home our own!

Killer Veg
Whilst reading 'Pinkalicious' to the girls the other day Esther asked me what army chokers were. She had me baffled for a minute until I realised she had misheard me reading the bit when Pinkalicious has to eat all the green vegetables and had gotten confused with artichokes! I think I'm always going to call them army chokers from now on...
