A few weeks ago Bex was looking on ebay for a replacement pig for Esther and low and behold the very same pig was there!! Not the very loved dirty grey coloured pig but a brand new looking pink pig that old piggy had once been. But of course I snapped it up for £2 though I think I would have paid quite a lot more if necessary!!
When it arrived you could tell it was the same pig even though it looked so different and new. I was a bit unsure of how Esther would react, I was thinking she might just dismiss it out of hand so I decided that I would put it in her car seat so when I collected her from pre-school she would just see it as a surprise and I would be able to gauge her reaction.
So when I picked her up she was happily surprised but not ecstatic or over the moon. In fact at one point she said she thought this piggy would like to go back to it's family. I explained he didn't have one so we would have to look after him and she was satisfied with that.
From that time on Esther is still addicted to Eliza's favourite toy - Ellie Wellie, a much loved Elephant and biggest source of contention in our home! This morning though I saw the first real glimmer of love for the pig as she really, really wanted to keep him with her at pre-school ( I wouldn't let her - there is no way this pig is getting lost.). So maybe she is gradually letting him into her life again!! I'll have to take a picture of him to show everyone....
