Things on Esther's mind

I think Esther is excited to move house (not that we have a new house to move to) and tonight she got out of bed an hour after I'd put them to bed to ask me what stuff we were taking to our new house. Are we taking our drawers? Are we taking our books? Are we taking her bed because she doesn't like her bed and wants a new one! Then when I had answered her I told her to get to bed to which she replied 'Keep calm, I have something to tell you'! Cracked me up, she was so serious but sooooooo stalling for time! Credit where credit is due - sounds like something I say to her when she is on the brink of hysterics!

Communicating with baby

Esther asked me the other day if I would open my mouth so she could say something to the baby! Of course I did it but I had to stop myself from laughing my head off! She has asked me again too, I can see how it's logical in her mind - all credit to her for working that one out!

So sincere!

Kids always say the funniest things in prayers but unfortunately it's all the more funny because they are so serious about them. Today Esther prayed that Father Christmas would be safe and his reindeer would be safe when they were flying around! Since it is nearly February I had just about forgotten the exsistence of Father Christmas but it seems Esther has not! I should explain the her that he and the reindeer are probably on holiday right now...

Artistic sensibilities

This evening just before dinner, Esther and our neighbour girl who is 5 came into the house looking sheepish. The little girl said she wanted to go home now - that doesn't happen - she would always stay until I said it was time to leave. Turns out they had been getting a bit artistic on the trampoline. I usually let them take crayons, pencils and paper out there to do some colouring on the trampoline. Today they coloured the trampoline. Tomorrow they will be washing the trampoline. It was actually pretty hilarious and I'd give them 10/10 for creativity, just not common sense. You could tell they knew they had done something bad. I wish I could find my camera before it gets washed off, I've not idea where it's disappeared to. The 5 year old told her mum Esther had done it and she hadn't done any but there is some pretty fancy artwork that my 3 year old couldn't take credit for and some slightly less fancy artwork that she could. A regular pair of Picassos!!

Jobs, jobs, jobs

When we were leaving the house this morning the rubbish truck was here to collect our garden waste and the following conversation ensued:
Esther: They are nice taking our rubbish stuff away.
Me: Well, it's their job, just like Daddy has a job this is their job. What is my job?
Esther: Drive and clean up...and play with us. My job is to play and to help tidy up and help you but Eliza doesn't have a job because she is too little to sweep the floor.
It made me smile: sometimes it's nice to see your kid's perception of life!
